Description:

Nestled in natural tea-tree on a double block The Bothy is the perfect house for a holiday. As well as being close to the Store, Tennis and Basketball courts, The Bothy, is located on a quiet street only meters from a beach access trail.

The property is fully fenced with a back and side yard for your pets or children to play safely away from the road. The sound of the ocean can be heard from the sunny deck with a gas operated Webber BBQ. Large glass doors open from the decking into the spacious and sunlit lounge/family room including three funky red leather lounge suites.

There are two outdoor settings, one nestled amongst the shady tee tree and the other on the sunny north aspect.

Location:

This 3 bedroom cedar dwelling offers accommodation for 8 people. 2 queen size beds and 3 singles with a pull out mattress. We supply doonas, blankets and doona covers. Bring your own linen and towels.

We can arrange to offer linen service: pre-requested and pre-paid for. Minimum notice: 7 days before check-in.

Both the bathrooms have been recently renovated with blue glass splash backs and modern taps and basins. There are two inside bathrooms. Two toilets. Two showers and one full sized bath. There is also an outside hot water shower. Washing machine and clothes dryer. Iron and ironing board.

With the kitchen aspect The Bothy boasts two dishwashers, one drawer dishwasher for small loads and a family sized one for larger washes. Quality kitchen equipment.

The Bothy also has a Billiard table and an upright Piano.

The Bothy is very environmentally friendly and energy efficient home with it’s own:
*Water supply (water tanks) and bore water for the garden and toilets
*The sewerage is a septic tank with the run off watering the garden
*The solar panels make more electricity than is used and so puts electricity back into the grid
*The new kitchen and floors are bamboo which is a fast growing environmentally friendly timber
*The lighting is low energy
*The shower roses are water efficient but large and deliver a firm good water rate
*The house is a northerly aspect with lots of natural light
*The walls and ceilings are well insulated to help with heating and cooling

Apart from spending the day on the beach or explore the amazing coastal areas, one can spend the heat of the day laying on the grass under the shady trees or on the large balcony.

In contrast the winter days can be spent huddled in front of the wood fire. Reverse cycle air conditioner / heater.

All modern appliances are provided, such as a large plasma TV, DVD, video & CD players and iPad docking station.

On returning from the beach, sandy and salty, guests can enjoy washing off with the twin outside hot shower.

Telstra mobile reception is available at The Bothy and in Sandy Point.

Sandy Point is about 200km from Melbourne. Turn off at Meeniyan and head towards Fish Creek.

Local Attractions:

If you’re heading to Sandy Point it’s because you love the beach. The ocean beach is patrolled by surf life savers during summer and offers acres of sand for beachside play and relaxation. Take your surf board or swimmers and spend countless summer hours enjoying the sun and water. Wilsons Promontory offers a scenic backdrop to your Sandy Point beach stay. The recently constructed, and imposing, Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club building is fully-licensed and open at selected times.

A couple of minutes away from Sandy Point, Shallow Inlet provides safe swimming options for kids. It’s also one of the world’s top places for wind and kite surfing. Indeed a world speed record was set here by a sailing craft. Keen fishers should drop a line here as well: King George Whiting, Flathead, Trevally and Australian Salmon have all been caught here at times. Boats can also be from the western beach. Climb the sand dunes for some stunning vistas of the region and towards Wilsons Promontory. There are also barbecue and picnic facilities.

As with all Prom Country towns other attractions, such as Wilsons Promontory, are down the road. You can buy almost everything you’ll need for your stay at Sandy Point general store or head to Foster or Leongatha to stock up on supplies. For a meal go to the Sandy Point cafe.

Couple of constructive comments, access to the beach is more than 2 mins via the suggest route which can is also narrow and includes some steep sections as you traverse the sand dunes. Our preference with kids and grandparents in tow was to access the beach via the surf club, slightly longer route but is easier if you have prams/lots to carry. Also an internal door separating the excellent open play area from the bedroom and bathroom area would help reduce noise in those areas. The billiard table, DVDs and games make it easy for even teenagers to spend a week without mobile reception or wifi (which there isn’t). While it is a little more than ‘2 mins’ from the beach, it is certainly as close as most and the shop is about the same. I am rating it ‘4’ for facilities because only one of the bedrooms has a ceiling fan and the air-conditioning is only in the lounge, making a hot night slightly unpleasant for some of the sleepers. Cool nights by the wood fire with agood supply of dry wood and kindling supplied. Worlds best beach for a dog to have fun getting wet sandy and salty only to come home to a warm outdoor shower and towel off. Nice secure yard with undercover deck.Lots of living space with plenty to do for all ages inside, I would strongly recommend The Bothy for families with a pet particularly ‘off-season’.
