Venus Bay borders the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park.

Venus Bay is a small coastal town, nestled in vegetated sand dunes that back onto the wild waters and golden sands of the Bass Strait coastline. Close to the township, there are five superb surf beaches that are patrolled by surf lifesavers in the summer months, as well as the state's longest sand spit at Anderson Inlet, where you can find safe, sheltered beaches ideal for families and swimming.

In 1997, the coastline from Venus Bay to Cape Liptrap was declared a Coastal Park and today offers visitors the change to see such unique historic sights as the old lighthouse, as well as viewing native Australian plants and wildlife in a truly natural habitat.

Activities and attractions:

● Explore the beautiful coastline with a coastal walk

● Enjoy river, surf and estuary fishing

● See kangaroos grazing near mangrove flats along tranquil Anderson Inlet

● Take a self-guided bushwalk among the tea-tree at Cape Liptrap Coastal Park and see the historic lighthouse

● Stroll along the Tarwin Lower boardwalk, which follows the Tarwin River, a good spot for fishing

● View abundant bird life and mangroves at Bald Hill wetlands (close to Tarwin Lower and heading towards Walkerville)

Getting There:

From Melbourne, the journey begins on the M1 which can be easily accessed via City Link, a tollway that connects three of Victoria's freeways, including the Tullamarine Freeway that runs from the airport to the city. The quickest way to get to Venus Bay by car is south-east along the Monash Freeway (M1), which turns into the South Gippsland Highway (M420).

* Once on the M1, take the Cranbourne & Phillip Island exit (M420). This will get you on to the South Gippsland Highway.

* Continue on the M420 for approximately 34km then take the Korumburra and Leongatha exit, Route A440.

By the time you reach the township of Loch you have begun to experience the beauty of the rolling green hills of South Gippsland. Continue on the A440 to Leongatha, Koonwarra and turn right at the Venus Bay sign. Once you enter Venus Bay turn right at the Venus Bay General Store (Centre Road) and the first left (Inlet View Road).

Alternatively, Stay on the South Gippsland Highway (M420) and follow the signs to Phillip Island. Continue on the B460 to Wonthaggi. At the coastal resort of Inverloch take the C442 towards Tarwin Lower, then onto Venus Bay.

As you enter Venus Bay you will see the General Store on the right hand side (Centre Rd), turn right then first left (Inlet View Rd). We are the last establishment on the right hand side. As you enter, there are 3 car parking spaces at the front and more parking at the rear.
