We love Meeniyan

Meeniyan is a small South Gippsland town, about 15km south-east of Leongatha, on the edge of the Strzelecki Ranges. The town calls itself “the turning point” as it’s here where many tourists turn right towards Fish Creek and then Wilsons Promontory National Park. Visitors can also opt to continue to Foster before heading to the Prom. Stop in at Meeniyan for a bite to eat or something to drink. There are a number of craft shops to explore in the Meeniyan area if you have more time. If you can stay longer in Meeniyan you must take a walk on the Great Southern Rail Trail. Head towards Leongatha and the new rail trail trestle bridge, which opened in March 2008. By taking the other direction you’ll find yourself on a flat and easy walk towards Stony Creek. Here the trail is mostly surrounded by swamp scrub and lowland forest. Around the town is a “Bicentennial bush walk,” which is 3km long. Meeniyan Hall is a landmark in the town and hosts “Tavern Nights” during the year. Meeniyan is about 150km from Melbourne.
Stay at Hudspeth House B&B.
